Shank (SKET Prequel) Pitch 2.0

Danielle has just found out that her father killed her mother (via visiting a police station to look into her mothers "mysterious" demise). She is walking home to find her father in the front room clasping a bottle of whisky/wine. An argument breaks out which results in her leaving home to stay with a friend of hers. in this transition of time. Her friend in juxtaposition is far more masculine than her, acting some what like Danielle does in the original movie. she acts like a sort of mentor (like Danielle is to Kay in Sket).

The 9 key frames will show the argument and all of the scenarios of which Danielle is put in making her more masculine over time. (E.g Her at a gym with her friend, or dressing more masculine)

Establishing shot
south London street, late afternoon, Danielle is on her way home from the police station after anxiously checking up on the recent case of her mothers demise 2 months ago, were she has just found out the cause of her mothers death was on account of her fathers drunken battery.

Danielle is in a state of fear and rage as she walks home from the police station to confront her father on what had happened to her mother. as she turns into the front door of her house barging open the door, and shouts to her dad on entry...

Danielle: DAAAAD!!??

*brief pause as Danielle scans the hall*

Danielle: DAAAADDD!!!??

It soon dawns on Danielle that her Father had left the house. so she then decides to go to her friend Stacy's house.

Cut to Stacy's house, and Danielle and Stacy are sitting in Stacy's room after Danielle had explained the situation and that she is lead to believe that her father had killed her mother. Stacy stands up and says..

Stacy: Look! your dad is a f***! ever since i first met 'im!

Danielle: What do i do!?

Stacy: i tell you what your going to do. your going to find him, and make him feel what your mum felt.

Danielle: But..But..i..

Stacy: No! im not having it! Your staying with me and first thin tomorrow im toughening you up!

RoboCop and Lego Movie, blockbuster relevance and comparison.

What caused the summer blockbuster? My take on this.

The summer blockbuster is essentially a cache in for everyone free in the summer who can go see a movie. There always "high concept", CGI galore, repetitive films that have no story and are all spectacle. The ratings are always highest so production companies will just churn out a load of samey movies to make some money.

Although this is justifiable as usually the budgets for these summer blockbusters are extremely big so they are going to need to have a relatively big return.

Blockbuster review and comparison (RoboCop)

Robocop has all the elements of a blockbuster. The whole film from the very start has an abundance of CGI and VFX, if there was none of these, there would be barely anything left of the film. Robocop did have 1 A-lister, it featured Samuel L.Jackson as the character Novake. They even managed to have him say his, crude by famous catchphrase near the end of the movie.

Robocop wasn't star driven, atleast I had no idea who the lead role was played by. But the film as a whole is character driven as it follows Alex Murphy through the film.

Also as this was a reboot of the original Robocop, it can be considered as following a "big dumb movie" concept or the "high concept" movie regime of being hyped up before release, even more so because of the "fandom" getting over hyped by a reebot of a childhood film.

The idea behind "high concept" films is that its an idea hyped up by trailers to make the film seem better than what it probably is. This is pretty much what Robocop is as, well its a cop that becomes a robot and goes around brinhing justice to Detroit. Its a extravagant concept so already ot gains some attention, adding the "fandom" factor and the budget, it ends up being a formulaic blockbuster of; Hero, villian, decite, victory.  Samey samey.

Shank (SKET prequel) script draft

establishing shot of council house in a run down neighborhood

Danielle is walking down the hallway of to find her father in the kitchen semi-drunk, clutching a wine bottle.

Danielle: You scum!

Danielle's father turns slowly to look at her, a glazed look in his eyes and a large exhale of breath as he places the wine bottle on the sideboard

Father: WHAT!?

Danielle: You 'fink you can just swan about like you own the place!?

Her father pauses and laughs to himself

Father: The f*** did you say!? I do own the place you SKET!!!...and you....and your mum.

At this point Danielle lunges at her father and attempts to punch him in the jaw. But as she does her father slaps her in the face, propelling her away from him and down to the floor beneath him.

Her father leans down and slaps her again, and spits at her.

Father: You are the same...you...your mum....pathetic, WORTHLESS, SLUTS!

A wave of anger and hatred waves across Danielle's face, she then kicks her fathers shins, knocking him to the ground. She then asserts herself over him, and repeatedly punches him in the face until he is rendered unconscious.

Danielle then gets up, stares intently at her fathers unconscious body, spits on him, then proceeds to leave the house.
